Born and brought up on a council estate in Meadowell, North Shields, Tommy initially got into boxing as a way to keep fit for football, but then fell in love with the sport and began pursuing it seriously.

Tommy represented the county of Tyne Tees and Wear before getting his first call up for England. He represented England several times, going on to win the senior elite ABA Championships, making him the top boxer in his class in the country. He had trials for Team GB and boxed for his country all over the world before deciding to turn professional.

“I first saw Tommy fight as a young amateur,” says Alan Conway, Managing Director of TEXO Port Services. “Tommy comes from a tough area and has worked hard and has never been in trouble which I admire a lot. I’m extremely proud that he has now turned pro, and I’m looking forward to following his career.”
