Site Engineering of Energy Storage Development including Structural Deformation Monitoring

TEXO was commissioned to provide site engineering services for this development to enable the safe and accurate construction of this city centre energy storage facility.

Solution

TEXO managed the project’s survey data to help ensure a smooth construction process and was on hand to provide further detailed advice, accurate measurement and verification when required.

Throughout the construction, TEXO site engineers were able to provide:

  1. Primary Site Control Establishment
  2. Setting Out Services including grid lines and piling locations
  3. Vibration Monitoring
  4. Structural Monitoring
  5. Topographic Survey

RESULT

With such close proximity to the active network rail lines that border the site, the TEXO team needed to be able to deliver millimetre-level monitoring during the construction phase by establishing an accurate control network and dense monitoring target network on site.

By using a state-of-the-art 1” total station and multiple observation periods (conducted pre-piling to establish a baseline value set / multiple time-periods throughout the active piling and finally a post-piling observation) to determine the level of movement was within Network Rail’s acceptable tolerance levels.

Daily monitoring reports were sent to the client along with automated trigger-level reporting, enabling real-time communication of any measurements.
